Re: “Use passenger boats to ease WA ferry crisis” [Dec. 18, Editorials]:
As a daily ferry rider, I can let you know that passenger-only boats will work solely at just a few terminals. I do know that Mukilteo and Clinton haven’t any or restricted parking. I merely can’t stroll on and not using a readily accessible automobile once I get to the opposite aspect — I’m normally bringing baggage, groceries and extra.
On the Mukilteo aspect there is no such thing as a straightforward approach to get to Seattle and again. The Sounder runs solely 3 times within the morning and 3 times within the afternoon. There’s not even a direct bus to Paine Subject in Everett from the Mukilteo dock, one thing that I discover unconscionable given the variety of flights leaving from Paine every single day. Additionally, Whidbey is a giant island.
It is extremely exhausting to not have a automobile to get round in. My concept: Have Washington State Ferries purchase or hire ferries from elsewhere which might be already constructed.
