Re “Christopher Durang, 75, Master Playwright With Impish Wit, Dies” (obituary, April 4):
I used to be so saddened to listen to of Chris Durang’s passing. Chris was an exquisite, type, hilarious man. And playwright.
In school I used to be in a musical he wrote in regards to the lifetime of Jesus. The songs had been all showstoppers from well-known musicals with new lyrics. I can’t keep in mind the identify of the present (that is 53 years in the past), however I keep in mind singing “That’s Incarnation” to the tune of “That’s Leisure”:
It’s Christ who will act out the function
Who’ll save man and his immortal soul
Hip hooray!
Jesus Christ is the way in which!
The phrase grew to become flesh
The flesh Turned Christ
That’s incarnation!
His performs comparable to “Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You” and “Vanya and Sonia, and Masha and Spike,” for which he received a Tony, are classics. However principally, Chris was a pleasant man with a giant coronary heart and sensible wit.
